Farewell to South Yorkshire's B10M's

Post  peanutbutter on Sun Jul 25, 2010 1:27 pm

The Volvo B10M / Alexander PS has been an integral part of South Yorkshire's bus network since it was introduced in 1990. During their time in South Yorkshire these vehicles have covered tens of million miles and carried a hundreds of millions of passengers in service. These well-regarded vehicles, are in effect the last South Yorkshire standard types to be operated by First and its predecessors.

After a career of 20 years serving our customers, the last examples of this important type will be withdrawn by First and to mark this occasion, First South Yorkshire are pleased to announce a special running day event to take place on Sunday 25th July.

On this date, for one last time, one of the remaining B10M buses will be operated on a special timetable operating across a handful of Sheffield routes to commemorate their demise. These journeys will duplicate existing timetabled journeys on the day and anyone requiring our newer, accessible buses will still be able to catch these normally.

Normal fares will be charged on the day and customers with savers will be able to travel as normal. However, fares collected on the bus during the day, plus any donations taken in the collection tins will be donated by First to Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.
