Being a hybrid, I doubt it will be out and about much, as I don't think they are that reliable. Looks like when it is out, it will be on the 40s or Garforths or Scotthalls. They need to keep it on a route without too many hills

Are they bought with the help of government money? Hence why First are buying them because they don`t have to pay full price.

Yup for now...But it looks like things may be getting tougher for bus ops as the government are seriously looking at axing the Bus Service Operators Grant which gets them cheaper diesel, as well as concessionary fares schemes.

Well there may actually get a VERY hard time trying to get rid of the Bus Service Operators Grant, I cant see how that is fair any many people. also you have to look at the other range, if the bus companies are buy less diesel then Government might get even less duty back.

I DO believe Tory made this promise: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8589627.stm

But Mr Cameron said: "They're going around scaring pensioners, telling you that the Conservatives are going to cut the winter fuel allowance, cut pension credit and end free bus travel and TV licences for over 75s.

"I can promise you, these are lies, lies, lies.

"You have my word. If we win the election, we will protect all of these things."

If it goes then DAVID is FUCKING LYING TORY SCUM BAG Razz No offensive to any tory voters,

Sadly there is NO money to pay for any of those schemes. The first to go will be the free travel, which may be gone by next month in the budget, and I can also see the end of both the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly, as both are pointless white elephants that are swallowing up millions. The country is in such a deep financial mess partly caused by 'New Layburr'.

Councils have already started to axe tendered contracts, and school bus services will be all closely scrutinised, and any deemed not viable will be axed

Somehow I doubt the free bus travel will get axed next year in Scotland, its a Election year. pushing that 2012/13 before we even see any hint of it up here.

( My last point was about the fact that he lied to get into power and should have made it clear he would not kept them) Razz Razz

If the concessionary fare scheme gets axed it will be COUNTRYWIDE not just in England. Money from it comes from Whitehall, just it is distributed differently.

Remember, the Scottish Parliament is just a sham parliament with no real power, and the real power is controlled down in London. Same goes for Wales.

Nope, I can GUARANTEE, this will not be the case. David can get rid of it in England, but it will be up to the MSP to decide what is axed in Scotland. If David tried to tell people what to cut then expect fireworks Twisted Evil

You really are deluded thinking the Scottish Parliament actually has any real powers! You also want Scotland to go even more bankrupt than it already is! If you want the free coffin dodger/window licker scheme to stay, expect your council tax to go up by a minimum of £75 per year, have education budgets slashed, leisure centres and public libraries shut permanently, council employees thrown on the dole, social services schemes axed..

This country is tens of billions in the red, and the only way out is to axe services and increase taxes. Labour got the country in shit street in the 70s, and have done exactly the same again. Thatcher sold everything off because she HAD TO, because it was bleeding the country dry. Sadly there is nothing left to sell for Dave & co and Labour really kept us all in the dark about how bad things are. Cameron & co are only just coming to terms of how bad things actually are, and how much that one eyed Scottish windowlicker screwed things up for everyone. The country is bankrupt.

Free prescriptions will be another thing that will end up being axed too, as they cost the NHS tens of millions of pounds a year, which could be put to use maintaining decrepit hospitals. All these schemes were brought in to win votes by a Labour party desperate to cling on to power and to hell with how many billions in the red it would put the country.

The truth of Blair & Brown's idiotic power crazed behaviour has now come out and bitten the country on the arse hard!

Put it up then, I should point out that Scotland is more socialist then the rest of the UK,

There is REAL disgust with public sending cuts up here and there want put up with them very easily, there already protest, right now about this matter.

decrepit hospital? we dont have that up here, we have brand new ones. NHS is also operate differently up here.

Free prescriptions, that is one thing I can agree on, I do like it being £3. I would it at that price instead of cutting it to FREE next year.

I can see your view point, I hope you can see mine, I doubt it anit going to change, for the both of us. Razz lol! you may get a surprise what is kept in Scotland

Cuts have already started in leisure services. Newcastle council have just announced that the free swimming scheme for kids and OAP's has been axed, and in Scotland there are plenty of decrepit hospitals and many of the new ones aren't fully operational, due to their not being any money for nursing staff. Get your head from out of the clouds, because the Scottish Parliament will eventually be axed whether you like it or not, because it is a waste of millions of pounds a year. It has only very minor powers anyway.
Also all benefits have been frozen. There is to be NO INCREASE in any form of benefit for the forseeable future, unlike the annual April increase in line with inflation, and many state benefits will be made much more harder to claim. There is to be a massive shake up in the Jobseekers allowance/Income support scheme, and anyone not actively seeking work, and sponging will have all forms of benefit stopped with immediate effect, and even if you are late signing on, the penalty is up to a week's benefit stopped if you do not have a good enough reason. They are also making reviews more frequent and putting many more people onto weekly signing. Also many schemes to try and help people back into work will be axed, as there is no money to pay for them anymore.

I bloody hope so and as a council tax payer i would rather see this scheme scrapped and don't want the council tax going up any higher PB.

If Scotchland want to keep their 'Parliament', then we should stop bank rolling it.

Give them full financial independence from Ingerlund.

The scrapping of Free Travel is something that I personally would welcome. The abuse of the system and the impact it has had on fare paying passengers, in this area, is phenomenal. If they're not going to scrap it completely, can we at least see an 'Afternoon Peak Period' introduced and a National Standard for when these passes can be used, I.E. 0600 - 0930 morning peak, no useage, 1530 - 1800 afternoon peak, no usage. I think that would be welcomed by the commuters.

Also, when this scheme was introduced, wasn't it supposed to be for 'Local' travel? There need to be an updated set of guidlines for use, imo.

council tax is also about some of the other cuts in services, as there spending money on freezing the Council tax, yet publis services are getting cut

see an 'Afternoon Peak Period' introduced and a National Standard for when these passes can be used, I.E. 0600 - 0930 morning peak, no useage, 1530 - 1800 afternoon peak, no usage. I think that would be welcomed by the commuters.

I could not see any problems with peak period limited being put on place, especial as the post office is not opened before 9am, the reason for national travel was because there were issues with ~Local travel some are you could travel only within the district, yet the main town was in another district. So you had to pay. also Some one living on the side of border of a council area could only use it for there side yet the tow that 10miles away is more local to them then say the town that 50miles away but is in the same county council area. FREE National travel gets rid of these problems, there are issues.
