Alexander Double Deck Bodies

Post  anorakman on Mon May 31, 2010 12:49 am

I've always been a fan of Alexanders forward entrance deckers (apart from the solitary low height Ailsa one) to date.
When you think of the A type and the Y type single deck - both shared the same windscreen and the upper deck front window was the rear window of the Y - brilliance!
The R type was is a good looking body particulary the front end of the RH on Volvo Citybus chassis.
The ALX400 body is the most stylish design I have ever seen

BUT

On Saturday I was passing Stagecoach Western's Ardossan depot where I witnessed my first sighting of the Enviro 400 apart from photographs. What is that front end all about? There were at least 6 branded for service 11 Ardrossan - Kilmarnock and worse still - history has been consigned to the corporate bucket - they are in standard livery not A1 Service blue & cream.
Not a good day.

I've found the Enviro bodies to be cheap, flimsy and nasty. Give me a Wright product any day!
